One Small Step (Star Trek: Gateways #1)

    January 22, 2025

The start of a big Star Trek crossover series of novels always has a big lift. In this case, the author has to take a concept created by two other people, create an original Star Trek story, end on a big cliffhanger, and set the stage for six additional original…

The Pandora Principle (Star Trek #49)

    December 23, 2024

If you're familiar with Pandora's Box, then you know this Greek myth is about Pandora, the first woman created by the gods, who was given a box by Zeus, with strict instructions never to open it. Apparently all religions see women as complete morons, so of course out of sheer…

    Casino Royale (James Bond #1)

"Don't worry about that chair with a hole in the middle. It's merely waiting to be reupholstered." - La Chiffre, Casino Royale (1967 film)

The Tattooist of Auschwitz (The Tattooist of Auschwitz #1)

    November 12, 2024

I'm not exactly sure this qualifies as a meet-cute, but it is a beautiful story. Also a little weird that my first romance read is set in the Holocaust...

Asylum (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds)

    November 6, 2024

A new Star Trek novel by Una McCormack? Sweet! And the main character of the novel is [checks notes] Una?! I'm in! Now the question is, where does Garak fit into this story?

    Batman: Resurrection

    November 5, 2024

Do you miss the days when the Batman movies were kinda campy but not overly campy. When they were dark but not overly dark? Do you wish you could dive back into the Michael Keaton days as Batman - between Batman and Batman Returns? Do you wish there was more…

    The Shining (The Shining #1)

    October 24, 2024

After finishing Pet Sematary recently, I really wanted a chance to re-read The Shining. It's spooky season after all! I have to say, having a few other Stephen King books under my belt really added to my enjoyment of this one.

No Man’s Land (Star Trek: Picard)

    October 18, 2024

Is it called "No Man's Land" because the two main characters are women? I mean, I guess there are parts that take place in Romulan territory. But still... I think the title should have been "When Seven Met Raffi" or "The Taming of the Seven" or something like that.

The Nanotech War (Star Trek: Voyager)

    October 18, 2024

In the world of Star Trek books, this is not one you hear talked about a lot. But I'm here to tell you that that is a mistake. People should be reading this book and talking about it.

My Rating Scale:
5 stars:
Superb! Couldn’t put it down! Will read again! Can’t recommend this one enough!
4 stars:
Great! Really enjoyed it. Maybe a few issues, but I definitely recommend and I may read it again someday.
3 stars:
Good. I enjoyed it, but maybe there were issues or something missing. Glad I read it but probably won’t choose to read again.
2 stars:
Not great. Not the worst book I’ve ever read, but I’d have a hard time recommending it and I highly doubt I’ll choose to read this again.
1 star:
Ugh. Did not like it at all.
DNF: Did not finish. I won’t rate it because that’s not really fair since I chose not to finish it.

Sometimes I’ll watch movies that are adaptations of books and review those with a sort of compare/contrast kind of thing.

I’m a CPA and work a lot. I’ll try to update this as quick as I can when I finish a book. Mainly because if I wait too long, I’ll probably forget what the book is even about…

And if this is your first time here, and if you’re really that bored, you can read my very first post here!
