This story was not what I thought it was going to be. I haven’t seen any of the adaptations of it so I just assumed you bury your pet and it comes back to life. It is and it isn’t. And more toward isn’t. Also, I feel dumb that I never noticed until it was pointed out in the book that it’s actually “cemetery” and not “sematary.”

Thoughts
Okay, so I guess I can call myself a Stephen King fan now. After I found Misery so good, I figured I’d pick up another and this is what I landed on. I wanted to find a really scary Stephen King book and this is supposedly the one King himself finds scariest. But I think for different reasons that what most horror fans are looking for.
I will say there were moments of great suspense and a few scenes that were pretty downright scary. But overall, this is a horribly tragic story.
I really don’t want to spoil too much, but the “pet” part of this book doesn’t play into things as much as you might think. As a cat lover, there were a couple scenes that were especially sad to me. And even though I have no children of my own… wow. Even I was getting the feels from time to time.
The ending though. O. M. G. The ending.
With all that said, I have to give this 5 out of 5 stars and click “join” into the Stephen King fan club. I’ve realized that I really like his writing style even if I’m not finding things all that scary. He’s just got a way of spinning a good yarn that’s gotten me hooked!
Editor’s Note: As I write this, I’m about 150 pages into my next Stephen King book. A re-read even!
