Thoughts

This book was mentioned numerous times in Stephen King’s memoir, On Writing. I think I’d heard of it before, but throughout school I had always been required to use other sources. And when I was browsing the Writing section of a Maui Friends of the Library location and happened across this little gem, I had to pick it up.

At 100 pages, it is a very quick read. Normally a book like this is more of a reference, but this one certainly deserves at least one full read-through. After that, it is a perfect little reference book.

I can’t say that I follow all the rules set forth in this book, but I do think of it often as I’m writing my book reviews.

Anyone who is a writer – of fiction, non-fiction, technical memos, whatever – should pick up a copy of this book. It’s handy. It’s dandy. And it could just save your life.

Okay, maybe not that last part. But even still, this is a 5 out of 5 star book for writers.
